Back to Bali

I had originally planned to take a canyoning course with Ico Pro on the island of Bali back in May, but because I broke my ankle, I had to postpone the course (but I still went in May and had a lovely time). So I eventually returned later that summer for a couple weeks to take the course and do a little sightseeing. It was a beginner course and I had just come from working as a canyoning guide in New Zealand, so I did not expect to learn anything new. Wow, was I wrong. The course was an eye-opener to just how much more there is to learn. I have never had a ‘know it all’ attitude at all, those that know me know that is not my vibe at all. So while I came in with some decent experience, I also left with a humbling experience of realizing how much I didn’t know. When the course was over the instructor asked me what I learned, and I replied, “I learned that I have a lot to learn.” He smiled and thanked me. This experience really impressed upon me the importance of going into all things with an open heart and an open mind. Never assume anything. Be ready to learn and to change. There is always someone out there who knows more than you.
