This is an epic 2-day overnight canyoning trip not too far outside of LA, though it requires a lengthy shuttle, or a shorter one if you want to summit over Mt Baldy first. I met up with Conrad and Ron and after the shuttle set up we began the approach early morning and made it through the canyon to the confluence with the East Fork of the San Gabriel River as it was getting dark. We set up camp for the night at a primitive site nearby, built a fire, and reflected on our experience in the canyon, the geology of a hallway feature being a highlight and the lengthy creek walking a lowlight. The next morning we hiked in the river to the Bridge to Nowhere and then another six miles back to the trailhead and the car. We were in the heart of the fall season and the colors in the area were varied and vivid.
