I wanted to try and guide canyons one more season and contacted the canyoning company in Dominica to see if thy were in need. Unfortunately, they were not, but they did mention that they were trying to sell the company. I was intrigued, and wondering if that were a path I wanted to pursue, so I told them I might be interested, so they invited me over to stay at their lovely cottage for a few days while I checked out their whole process and infrastructure. While I loved their space and the canyon they guided, I knew pretty quickly that I would not want to own a company on this island. It’s beautiful, but it’s also quite poor and not a whole lot going on. Plus, their airport is known for being a challenging place to land. It was kinda funny that the wife of the owner of the company you could tell was desperate to sell and get off that island, while the owner seemed somewhat indifferent. In any case, it was nice to explore the island for about a week; did some diving; tagged along for a trip through the main canyon they guided (I tried to get some info on some other canyons on the island as beta was limited, but the owner was pretty cagey and non committal about doing other canyons, so no go there unfortunately); I drove around and checked out some nice beaches, one with a waterfall emptying onto the beach, and also hiked to a boiling lake.
