A couple of Arizona classics. Still pretty new to the sport of canyoneering so a real pleasure to experience these two. Garden Creek with the hike down the Bright Angel Trail. A treat at Sunrise, but a slog back up to the rim with wet stuff after completing the canyon. Hidden in plain sight. Would not know it was there unless you knew. Back at the rim for evening dinner, then the hardest part of the day where we drove, in a state of food coma and exhaustion, to some motel near the start of Waterholes. That drive was rough. Early start for Waterholes. We make great time to the big 320′ drop. Then a few more to the Colorado river where we begin our 3.5 mile float out to the exit vehicle at Lee’s Ferry. Maybe only floating an hour before we are picked up by a beautiful boater. Awesome canyon with awesome people. I left my rope in Aniko’s car and she had to mail it to me 🙁
