The 2020 Rassemblement Internationale de Canyon (RIC) was to be held on the island of Crete, but because of Covid the canyoning rendezvous was eventually moved to the fall of 2021. Not the most ideal time, as the water levels were quite low or non-existent, but the canyons themselves were as deep, sculpted, technical, and gorgeous as any of the best locations – and it was also an excuse to go to Greece. This was my first and only RIC, I believe. They are great. Such a fun opportunity to mix with other canyoners from all over the world and enjoy amazing canyons, food, drink, and culture. Cody, Angie, and I made friends with some Romanians and we spent the next several days exploring many of the canyons that the island had to offer.
