Buckskin Gulch

one of those hard to get permits, but got lucky. Roughly 16 miles or so of contiguous slot canyon hiking in sand. Beautifully sculpted walls every step of the way. No escape. If a storm is coming, better make other plans. I got to the confluence with the Paria earlier than expected and did not think that it was the proper turn off, so kept going…and going. Turns out I should have turned left up the Paria. Made it back to that confluence a little before dark and had another 6 or so miles back to my car. Whoops :). Pretty exhausted by the end of it but it was a spectacular hike. It was years before I got back in this area again. The Utah desert is a special place.
